Willie Jane restaurant in Venice is quite the hit- January 2014

Willie Jane Restaurant on Abbot Kinney is a homey, down to earth restaurant with plenty of soul and a cool vibe.  The menu has some southern classics like their home-made buttermilk biscuits which are impossible to order just one.  They come out light, flaky and warm.

The fried chicken is the best in town.  It’s a half a chicken that is seasoned to perfection with that a great crunchy texture on the outside.  They get their fresh seasonal vegetables from the garden next door to the restaurant.  The brussel sprouts are so good, you will be tempted to order another plate of them for dessert.  They are sweet, savory and crunchy.  The spicy boiled beets with burrata cheese is another fantastic side to go with the line caught sword fish or hanger steak.

Don’t miss the fantastic mac and cheese with herbed bread crumbs.  Willie Jane is also a great place to meet friends for a drink too.  They have all sorts of unique specialty cocktails and a comfortable place to sit at the bar.

Chef Govind Armstrong (pictured above) has a creative skill and we can see why the place is very popular. He just opened a burger place at LAX at terminal 4 as well. You can reach them at 310-392-2425 or visit their website for more info. http://williejane.com/
