Hotel Del Coronado offers it all and our top choice of places to stay in the San Diego area- June 2014

Hotel Del Coronado is the place to visit and stay on your next trip to the San Diego area. Located right on the beach with a beautiful backdrop, breath-taking views, wonderful food and excellent service, The Del is spectacular. We arrived very late on the Friday night coming from a long day at Disneyland but where helped to our room by the hospitable bellman upon check-in.

The room was very spacious and our suite had fantastic views of the whole coastline, beach, ocean and sunset. The décor and amenities were super and we had plenty to do just staying at the hotel. There are two pools including an adult only pool, fitness center, free wifi and plenty of dining options so you don’t have to get in your car if you prefer to stay on-site. We dined on the patio at Eno, a casual yet tasty pizza and wine bar. It was great for kids and we loved their homemade wood-fire pizzas, salads, cheese assortments and desserts. Don’t miss some vino to enhance the meal from the extensive wine list. They are open Tuesday-Saturday from 5-10pm.

Our first day, we just hung out by the pool, lounged and enjoyed the family activities provided by the Del to our kids with the scavenger hunt with a backpack and clues to search for to solve the game. It was a rare gloomy day so we didn’t head to the beach but had a very nice time relaxing, exercising and then eating. We enjoyed listening to the live music inside the lounge before heading up to take it easy and call it a night. The beds were so comfortable and looking out the clear windows of the great view was very peaceful. Relax and enjoy the sun poolside or in the hot tub. Provided for your convenience are complimentary pool towels, chaise lounge chairs, kickboards and water toys. Forget something? Also available for purchase at the pool are a selection of children’s water toys, goggles, sunscreen and more. Open daily 7am to 10pm. Overnight guests only.

The next morning, we woke up early and headed out to the 8am yoga on the beach put on by Hotel Del among some other great classes. What more can you ask for to start the day. After breakfast, we rented one of the full size wheel of fun bikes to fit everyone in and stroll around as the sun came out. The bikes can be rented right on property on the beach side as they have a variety of styles and it is super convenient. Seven speeds, tandems, kids’ bikes or even a four-person surrey are available to rent at PeDels. Navigate a six-mile trail for a scenic coastal ride around Coronado Island or cruise south along the Silver Strand.

This would have been the perfect day to hang out at the beach there but we had plans already to go to Sea World nearby so we checked out and enjoyed the rest of the day. We highly recommend Hotel Del for its beauty, service, staff and food on your next vacation to San Diego.
