Chop Daddy’s in Culver City serves up tasty comfort food- Pork, Brisket, Chicken- June 2015

Recently opened in the heart of Downtown Culver City, the new Chop Daddy’s barbecue joint offers patrons delicious barbecued comfort food at a reasonable price. As soon as you walk in to Chop Daddy’s you can see immediately that it has a more diner/pub feel than a sit down restaurant.  You order at the counter and have the option of drinks that include fountain drinks from their digital soda machine (hundreds of options), beers and alcoholic beverages from both bottle and tap, as well as their house-made hard lemonade.  They combine the freshness of fresh squeezed lemonade with the kick of Soju (a Korean rice liquor).  It was quite delicious.

Chop Daddy’s offers sandwiches, salads, and even tater tots topped with their signature slow smoked meats (pork belly, brisket, pork, and chicken). We sampled them all and everything was succulent and delicious.  However, the main event was definitely the pork ribs.  They slow smoke the ribs for hours making them tender, juicy and exploding with flavor.  We literally reached for half of a rack and the bone just fell off the meat.  That is always a good sign.  If you need a little more sauce on them, Chop Daddy’s has their bottles of house made barbecue sauce both spicy and regular right there on the table.  The ribs came with sides of beans and macaroni and cheese:  all great.

For dessert we had fresh baked cookies and bread pudding bites.  Always good to close a meal with something sweet after so much savory.  Everything we ate was so flavorful but I will definitely go back for the ribs.  Those were some of the best ribs we’ve had in a restaurant in a long time.  Chop Daddy’s is great for lunch, and with TVs on the walls, a great place to watch an evening game and have a hearty dinner.  We would highly recommend Chop Daddy’s in Downtown Culver City for all your smokey barbecue needs.
