Il Fornaio in Woodland Hills

This is an Italian restaurant situated in the heart of the “village” in Topanga. It is Woodland Hill’s favorite hangout place for eclectic stores, spas, nice cafes and restaurants. As you enter the place you are welcomed by a delightful setting: lots of natural light with a nice decor. Our waiter Chris was the right combination of courteous, kind and friendly. He was very attentive and outside-of-the-box thinker, who knew how to make suggestions to improvise on the dishes in the menu.

The menu offers a wide variety of mouth-watering starters. We went there quite hungry. We had the prosciutto cheese antipasti, with Chris’s suggestion: custom-ordered scallops on the side along with tried the beet salad. The Scallops were cooked to perfection, plump and juicy. They were matched with a Sauvignon Blanc that was produced in a winery in South California owner by the restaurant.

The main course consisted of a fire-grilled chicken dish and seafood linguine, which really thrilled us. The seafood linguine was not short of seafood! And the fire grilled chicken had the aroma of the wood smoke, which brought back memories of my childhood of my grandma’s cooking! When it was time for dessert, we could not make up our minds among the delicious choices on the menu, so we went with the 3-sampler option. the plate presentation was very elegant and it was a nice variety. All the products were fresh and the dishes had the warmth of home-made food.

It was apparent that the chefs take great care in selecting the best quality ingredients. The service was great, and the manager and host, Giuseppe, was always around willing to exchange some kind words with his clients. Verdict: Highly recommend!  Written by Coral Isikci
