Beach and Brew- New Hotspot for seafood, self serve drinks- September 2021

There is a new L.A hotspot in town and their name is Beach and Brew.  It’s in a great location on Washington Blvd just a few blocks up from the heart of Venice Beach.  It took over the location from Kifune sushi bar, but has taken on a much different look.  This is an inviting, open air space that will surely be a favorite of locals for years to come.  Owners Daryl and Gade are welcoming, friendly and totally hands on making all guests feel comfortable to enjoy their experience.

Inside is a lively atmosphere with self-serve taps of a wide variety of beer and wine.  You can enjoy a 12 ounce beer or you can enjoy trying a little bit of 12 different beers. It’s all kept track by a comfortable wrist band.  It’s super fun to try all these different beers and wines until you find one that best suits your palate. You can also order alcoholic beverages from your waiter if you choose.

Don’t let the taps of beer and wine fool you about the food though.  Yes, you can get a delicious burger, but you can also get beautiful refined entrees and fresh seafood.

If you are an oyster lover, you are in the right place. You can start off with a round of the seasons’ freshest of oysters or try the B&B Aguachile appetizer that includes hamachi with some super sweet Santa Barbara urchin on top and rock shrimp with salmon roe on top of that.  It’s all served beautifully with cucumber, cilantro, shaved radish and avocado.  Try some steamed clams with a beer.

In the “Handheld” section there are the Calamari Fries that are crispy strips of fried calamari with a white and a red dipping sauce.  Don’t miss one of their tasty salads.  There is also the creative Crab Cake Corn Dog that is shaped like a giant corn dog, but it is thicker, bigger and it’s crispy on the outside filled with delicious crab cake.

For larger entrees there is the mouth watering Lobster with Garden Pea Agnolotti. Poached lobster in a rich sauce accompanied by agnolotti pasta that is similar to tortellini.  The Whole Grilled Sea Bass is crispy on the outside and light and flaky on the inside and served on top of wilted escarole, braised cannelini beans and broccoli mash.

Save a little room for dessert if you can.  You don’t want to miss the warm, cast iron chocolate cookie with vanilla ice cream or the warm date cake served with warm caramel.

Beach and Brew is an interesting mix of casual and refined.  Come dressed up or casual, it all works.  It’s similar to the food and drink.  You can enjoy an ice cold familiar beer with a hamburger or you can sip chardonnay with your oysters, steamed clams, and lobster.

Just added is their Saturday and Sunday Brunch from 10 am to 3 pm
