DAUGHTER OF THE WICKED AT THE ODYSSEY THEATRE – MARCH 2022

Article & Review written by Jeff Zimerman
A full house caught opening night of the wonderful one-woman show Daughter of the Wicked at the Odyssey Theatre in West Los Angeles.  The show stars Shanit Keter Schwartz, and is based on her true life story of returning to Israel in search of her missing sister, a victim of the Yemenite Children Affair.  The performance begins with Shanit as a Yemenite Jewish girl in the newly formed country of Israel in the 1940s, and moves thru the decades to present times. The show also highlights Shanit relationship with her Kabbalistic mystical Rabbi father.
The show features original cello music by nine time Academy Academy Award nominee and Grammy Award winner James Newton Howard. The show also features authentic Yemenite tin drums and flutes composed by Israeli composer Lilo Fedida.  The music help move us from the sands of Yemen, to the small homes of the Israeli immigration settlement camps, to life in the Israeli immigration projects where they spent their childhood and teenager years.
Performances continue through April 10, 2022 at the Odyssey Theatre, 2055 S. Sepulveda Boulevard in West Los Angeles. We highly recommend Daughter of the Wicked at the Odyssey Theatre.  We will definitely return to enjoy another high level performance at the Odyssey Theatre, as well as any show starting Shanit Keter Schwartz.   https://www.facebook.com/dotwplay…and https://ci.ovationtix.com/34367/production/1098706….
