Fine Dining in Barcelona with fabulous Paella, Tapas & more at Barceloneta, Firotaste;ChocoFiro & Gourmet Sensi-May 2026
BARCELONETA:
Perched right on the pier, Barceloneta delivers the kind of seaside dining experience that lingers in your memory long after the last bite. Definitely a local and tourist favorite restaurant while in Barcelona with great service and beautiful views, this place is not to be missed.
From the very first dish, it’s clear you’re in for something special. The tomato tartare with avocado and sardines is a revelation—fresh, vibrant, and beautifully balanced. Scoop it up with their warm, delicate house-made flatbread, and you get a perfect harmony of textures and flavors that sets the tone for the entire meal.
Then come the grilled scampi and squid, an appetizer that truly steals attention. Cooked to absolute perfection, each bite is tender and infused with a rich garlic butter sauce that practically melts on your tongue. It’s one of those dishes you instinctively slow down for, just to make it last a little longer.
For mains, the local seabass holds its own—light, flavorful, and paired thoughtfully with potatoes and vegetables. But let’s be honest: the undisputed star of the show is the seafood paella. Brimming with squid, clams, shrimp, and deeply infused rice, it’s everything you hope for and more. Each spoonful carries the essence of the Mediterranean, rich yet perfectly balanced, making it one of the standout paellas you’ll find in Barcelona.
And then there’s the setting. Overlooking the marina, with yachts gently swaying and the water glistening under the sun, the view alone is worth the visit. Add to that impeccable service—warm, attentive, and seamless—and the experience becomes exceptional. Special mention goes to Thiago, whose friendliness and attentiveness elevate the atmosphere even further. End with their tiramisu and you will be completely satisfied.
This isn’t just a meal; it’s a full sensory experience. If you’re planning a trip to Barcelona, Barceloneta is simply not to be missed. You’ll leave full, happy, and already thinking about your next visit. https://restaurantbarceloneta.com/en/
FIROTAST/CHOCOFIRO:
If you’re looking for an unforgettable dining experience in Barcelona, make sure FIROtast is on your list. What makes the experience even more unique is that the FIRO family includes two restaurants with the incredible ChocoFIRO chocolate boutique perfectly placed between them — creating the ultimate evening of food, wine, and dessert.
We dined at the higher-end FIROtast location, and every part of the meal exceeded expectations. Start with the ceviche — light, refreshing, beautifully balanced, and the perfect way to begin the evening. And whatever you do, do NOT miss the patatas bravas. They were easily the best we had in Barcelona: crispy, flavorful, perfectly sauced, and completely addictive.
The seafood paellas were another highlight. FIROtast offers several incredible variations, from traditional seafood paella to rich black squid ink rice and even noodle-style fideuà dishes, all packed with fresh seafood and deep Mediterranean flavor. Pair your meal with one of their excellent Spanish wines or cavas from their extensive cellar to elevate the experience even more.
Beyond the food, the service was exceptional. Rocío and the entire team made us feel genuinely welcomed from start to finish — attentive, warm, professional, and passionate about the experience they provide.
And of course, the perfect finale is stepping into ChocoFIRO afterward for dessert. Calling it “chocolate heaven” barely does it justice. From handcrafted chocolates and pastries to decadent desserts and gifts, it’s impossible to leave without treating yourself.
Located along beautiful Gaudí Avenue between Sagrada Família and the Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau, the atmosphere adds even more charm to the experience. FIROtast blends Mediterranean, Galician, and international influences with top-quality local ingredients and a true passion for hospitality.
GOURMET SENSI:
Tucked away in the charming streets of Barcelona, Gourmet Sensi is a true gem for anyone who appreciates thoughtful, beautifully prepared tapas in an intimate setting. The restaurant has a quaint, cozy atmosphere that immediately makes you feel at ease, and the attentive, friendly service only enhances the experience. It’s the kind of place where every detail feels carefully considered without ever becoming pretentious.
The menu offers a creative variety of tapas, blending traditional flavors with modern touches. One standout dish we tried was the roasted leeks, served tender and slightly caramelized, accompanied by a selection of sauces that added layers of richness and contrast—each bite felt balanced and satisfying. There was also an inventive take on lasagna, made with cabbage instead of pasta sheets. It was surprisingly delicate yet flavorful, offering a lighter, vegetable-forward twist on a classic comfort dish.
Among our personal favorites were the octopus and the gravlax. The octopus was perfectly cooked—tender with just the right amount of char—paired with complementary elements that elevated its natural flavor. The gravlax, beautifully cured, was served with spinach and a medley of vegetables that added freshness and texture, making it both elegant and refreshing.
To round off the meal, we enjoyed a rice dish with seafood that truly captured the essence of Mediterranean cuisine. The rice was cooked slowly, absorbing a rich, deeply flavored broth infused with seafood, likely made from simmered shells, aromatics, and spices. The result was a dish that was both comforting and complex, with each grain perfectly textured and infused with the taste of the sea.
Overall, dining at Gourmet Sensi was a wonderful experience—from the ambiance and service to the creativity and execution of each dish. It’s a place I would happily return to and recommend to anyone looking for a memorable meal in Barcelona.
