Big Bear Skiing, Lodging at Apples Bed & Breakfast, Dining at Wyatts- Feb 2022

Apples Bed & Breakfast Inn located in Big Bear Lake is a uniquely charming two story 21 room Victorian style B & B with craftsman style influence. Surrounded by majestic pine trees and beautiful flowers you can immediately feel its charm and personality. They are located only one mile from Big Bear Lake, two ski resorts as well as downtown shopping and restaurants.

Our visit included a delicious hot breakfast made fresh every morning and served in their very beautiful dining room.  An assortment of teas and other refreshments are always available in their parlor. They have three conference rooms and are a very popular wedding designation.

Each stylish guest room is tastefully decorated with an eclectic mix of stunning antiques and modern amenities that are unobtrusively tucked away to create an elegant but comfortable environment. Each room features gas fireplaces, complimentary WiFi, and much more. We highly recommend Apples Bed & Breakfast Inn on your next Big Bear Lake getaway.

Wyatt’s Grill and Saloon located in Big Bear Lake has a county theme environment, and opened in 2005. They feature comfort food with an “attitude” including burgers, flatbread pizzas, wings and more. Wyatt’s are very family friendly, great for large groups and there is never a wait for a table! Wyatt’s Saloon offers draft and bottled domestic and craft beers, a full bar and specialty cocktails.

We attended on a Wednesday evening, and entertainment featured a DJ and line county dancing.  We enjoying dancing and meeting the locals who frequent Wyatt’s weekly.. They have a DJ or a live band, including county dancing, on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings.

For dinner we started off with Connie’s Summer Salad, which is a healthy heap of salad garnished with bell peppers, tomatoes and croutons served with your choice of dressing.

Next we had delicious a flatbread pizza. Wyatt’s homemade pesto Pizza with a bed for fresh mushrooms, red onions and green bell peppers. Complimented with grated mozzarella and love, of course. Wyatt’s signature BBQ Chicken Pizza with marinated chicken with traditional BBQ sauce, grated mozzarella, sliced red onion and fresh cilantro. Just like the cowboys used to make… If the cowboys made pizza. We also ordered their Tri Tip which is marinated overnight, served with juicy Mexican corn, their signature Pico de Gallo coleslaw and a side of their homemade BBQ sauce. Also enjoyed their Big Angus Patty Melt, which is a 1/2 pound full Angus beef patty topped with your choice of cheese, grilled onions and served on rye bread. Side dish choice of fries or a salad. For dessert we had their delicious Peach Cobbler topped off with Vanilla Ice Cream.

We recommend spending an evening here for dinner, dancing and entertainment. Further details can be found at  https://bigbearevents.com/wyatts-5/

Had a fun morning at Big Bear’s Mineshaft Coaster, a thrilling new mountain coaster that is fun for the entire family. Enjoyed beautiful snow covered Big Bear Lake mountain scenery on your way up, then controlled the speed down a mile long track. Definitely is a fun and thrilling ride that features steep descents, dips, twists, hairpin turns, tunnels and 360-degree corkscrews! Mineshaft Coaster is the first and only mountain coaster in California. The Magic Mountain Recreation Area in Bear Bear Lake is open year round offering family fun with winter snow activities, and summer water slides. Big Bear has 2 mountains to ski on- Big Bear and Snow Summit.  We went to Snow Summit which was better for the skiing with more terrain.  Some great runs with a nice diversity and we had some fresh snow.  Your ticket is valid for either or both mountains.  The drive from LA is not bad without traffic about 2 and 1/2 hrs.   Make sure to check road conditions and see if chains are required.  Best suggestion is to drive with 4 wheel drive & snow tires.  The town is very nice and the skiing is spectacular especially on a sunny day with the lake in the background as you can see on the feature photo.  https://www.bigbearmountainresort.com/
