Memphis Grizzlies defeat the LA Clippers who lose 6th straight home game- Nov 2025
Grizzlies rally past Clippers
- The Grizzlies beat the Clippers 112–107 in Inglewood.
- It was the final Cup game for both — a “win-or-go-home” feel not just because of elimination pressure, but because a wild-card bid was still possible. Despite the win, Memphis failed to advance because another team had a better point differential.
- Memphis trailed by as many as 16 points in the third quarter, but mounted a surge thanks to a combination of hot shooting and bench production. Their bench outscored the Clippers’ reserves 47–15, a huge edge.
Key individual performances & what went wrong for the Clippers
- Kawhi Leonard scored 39 points on 15-of-24 shooting in just 29 minutes — a huge effort.
- James Harden added 23 points.
- However the Clippers faltered down the stretch: they were badly outscored in the second half (Memphis 62 – Clippers 44), and the Grizzlies dominated the boards.
- The Clippers’ offense cooled considerably: after a hot start (making several threes early), they ended just 12 of 38 (31.6%) from beyond the arc.
Memphis’ balanced attack & comeback effort
- Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 24 points, 16 of them coming in the second half, leading the comeback. Caldwell Pope hit 4 three pointers in the first half and Cam Spencer lit it up in the second half to help the scoring load as they were missing Ja Morant and lost Desmond Bane via free agency. Ty Jerome has yet to make his season debut.
- Zach Edey — the “big center” hauled in 19+ rebounds but played the best defense on Zubac of any Center I have seen so far in the league.
- Bench players stepped up: key contributions from the reserves (multiple players in double digits) powered a 47–15 bench-scoring advantage.
Context: Both teams struggling & stakes of the game
- Both teams have had a rough stretch this season; this game carried extra weight because a loss would mean elimination from the Cup, while a win left a slim chance — which Memphis nearly converted.
- For the Clippers it was a brutal blow: despite Leonard’s big night and a solid effort from Harden, they dropped their sixth straight home game.
- Even though Memphis pulled off the win, they still failed to advance — showing that while the game was dramatic, the Cup format and tiebreakers ultimately betrayed them.
- The Clippers will need to make a trade or two to salvage the season. They need another good scorer and 3 point shooter (Trading Powell was a big mistake as he came into his own and is playing at all star level again this year). Yes they needed a power forward like Collins but they could have found someone or had him without giving up Powell.
- Injuries are hurting the Clippers too losing Derrick Jones Jr and now Brook Lopez and Bogdon are out for the time now and the young players are ok but not consistent. More at www.nba.com/clippers
