Touring around Munich, Germany with Mike’s Bike Tours- May 2026

Had an absolute blast with Mike’s Bike Tours & Rentals in Munich! The whole tour was around 4 hours and honestly felt like hanging out with a hilarious local friend who just happened to know everything about the city. Our bike leader was super friendly, funny, full of great stories, and somehow managed to keep history entertaining even while dodging bike traffic like a pro.

We covered so many iconic spots around Munich, including Marienplatz, Odeonsplatz, the Hofbräuhaus, and the beautiful English Garden. One of the coolest stops was the famous Eisbach Wave where people actually surf in the middle of the city — yes, real surfing in Munich! Watching surfers ride the standing river wave while tourists stood around cheering was something I never expected to see in Germany.

The tour had the perfect mix of sightseeing, history, and relaxing breaks. We stopped for lunch/snacks at the beer garden near the Chinese Tower in the English Garden, which was easily one of my favorite parts of the day. Giant pretzels, cold drinks, great atmosphere, and lots of laughs with the group made it feel like the ultimate Munich experience.

I also loved learning random fun facts along the way — like how the English Garden is actually larger than Central Park, and hearing stories about Bavarian culture, beer traditions, and local history that you’d never get from a guidebook.

The pace was easy, the bikes were comfortable, and the route was perfect for seeing a ton of the city without feeling rushed. Highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Munich for the first time (or even the second time). It ended up being one of the highlights of our entire trip.
