Brian Setzer Orchestra back in LA for their annual Christmas Show on 12/17/05

Another incredible performance by the Brian Setzer Orchestra on 12/17/05 at the Gibson Ampitheater.  I was there to do a feature write-up and I have nothing but great things to say.  The most interesting aspect is I couldn’t help but dance to his many hits, covers and Christmas songs with my female companion assigned for the story with me.  The band made me want to see them more than once a year at his annual X-Mas bash here in LA.  Accompanied by his fantastic musicians, the sold out crowd was very pleased as he drew many ovations and loug applause the whole night long.  More fans as I hope to see you more often!

For his Fourth Annual Christmas Extravaganza tour, Brian Setzer will celebrate the
release of his new album ‘Dig That Crazy Christmas’ and concert DVD ‘Christmas
Extravaganza’ (Surfdog Records) with a performance at the Gibson Ampitheatre at Universal
CityWalk on December 17th.

The newly recorded ‘Dig That Crazy Christmas’ is the indispensable soundtrack to the
yule tide, featuring Setzer’s blistering takes on classics like "Let It Snow! Let It
Snow! Let It Snow!," "My Favorite Things," "Jingle Bell Rock," "White Christmas" and
"You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch." He mashes the accelerator for raucous renditions of
"Zat You Santa Claus?" and the sizzling "Dig That Crazy Christmas." The hitmaker
also wrote two new songs for the album, "Hey Santa" and "Santa Drives a Hot Rod."

Setzer’s new DVD ‘Christmas Extravaganza!,’ which was released October 18th on
Surfdog Records, was filmed last year at a sold out concert at the Gibson Amphitheatre on
December 18, 2004. ‘Christmas Extravaganza’ captures the full effect of a rockin’
Setzer blowout, with 25 tracks, including "The Nutcracker Suite," which was nominated
for a 2004 Best Pop Instrumental Performance Grammy.

The performance is just one stop on the 24-date, sold out American tour for Setzer.
On November 30th, the Brian Setzer Orchestra will also provide the soundtrack to
Rockefeller Center’s tree lighting ceremony.

Setzer and his 18 piece big band’s festive and colorful 90 minute set will tear
through songs from his 25-year career including music from his ‘Dig That Crazy
Christmas’ CD and Stray Cats and BSO hits including "Stray Cat Strut," "Jump Jive An’ Wail,"
and "Rock This Town." The big band will be decked out in leopard print outfits with
red and green bandstands; background vocalists will be adorned in little red Santa
dresses. Bedecked with a big blonde pompadour and tattoos, Setzer will soar through
his trademark blistering bad-ass rockabilly and big band swing.

Boston-based American Public Television has announced that it has secured the
broadcast distribution rights for ‘The Brian Setzer Orchestra Christmas Extravaganza’ and
will be distributing the program to PBS stations across the country, who will air
the special between November 25th and December 30th.
