Hall & Oats along with Michael McDonald and AWB stop in LA on their tour together (10/04)

Long time band Hall and Oats is still going strong with their music and touring. The duo started in the late 1960’s and have produced many hits over 5 decades. They may be a bit older but their energy and musical talents have lost no edge.  On their recent concert I just covered at the beautiful, great sounding Universal Amphitheater in L.A., their “Rock & Soul Revue”, they are the headliners. Opening up was The Average White Band (AWB) playing some funky tunes from the 70’s including there two biggest hits “Cut the Cake” and “Pick up the Pieces”.  The famed Michael McDonald (ex-Doobie Brothers lead singer), came on second and performed many of his solo hits such as "I keep Forgetin" and "Sweet Freedom" dedicated to the late Gregory Hines from a past movie track;  some Doobie Brother hits (Minute by Minute" and "Takin it to the Steets", and Re-Do’s on his Motown CD such as "Reach out, I’ll be there" (Four Tops song), "All is fair in Love" (Stevie Wonder), "I heard it through the Grapevine" and "Nothin like the real thing" (Marvin Gaye), & "Since I lost my baby" (Temptations). Even as he gets older, his music is still amazing along with his outstanding touring band.

Then came Daryl Hall & John Oats and their fabulous talented band  to sing/perform some of their newer songs and of course quite a few of their big hits such as "I can’t go for that",“Your kiss is on my list”, "You’ve lost that Lovin Feelin (Righteous Brothers original) ", â€œShe’ Gone”, & “Maneater”.  After the 2 wooed the audience for over one hour, it was time for the real jam. All 3 bands had most of their members on stage to entertain and perform about 6 songs together ranging from a couple covers including "Love Train"  to Doobie Brother Songs and Hall & Oats hits with alternating singing from the groups lead singers.  It was a special night where three great groups got together to show us all how wonderful all of their music really is.
