Mel Brooks “The Producers” Musical at the Pantages in LA – August 1st, 2003

"The Producers" Award Winning Musical Performances till January, 2004 at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles.

The most awarded show in Broadway history is playing at the Pantages Theatre and tickets are available. The Genius Mel Brooks created this on-going Musical Play. Brooks wrote and directed his first feature film in 1968, which happened to be the Producers. He won an Academy Award for the best original screenplay and the rest is history of his well-established career. This Comedy Musical made it big on Broadway when it starred Nathan Lane and Mathew Broderick. The Producers moved and started in LA in May of 2003. Jason Alexander and Martin Short are the Co-Stars of the Show.

Mel Brooks also co-wrote the Producers Book with Thomas Meehan, which became quite famous in itself. All of this led to what is now with the very popular musical. Susan Stroman is the director and lead choreographer of the show.  Multiple awards including 12 Tony Awards and 2 (2002 Grammy Awards) make this a must see while it is still in Los Angeles.

Alexander, known best for his character George on the hit show "Seinfeld", returns to the theater to play Max Bialystock. He teams up with Short (Leo Bloom), known for many past acting performances in Movies and The Martin Short Television Show. Bialystock is a producer and Bloom is an accountant and in a long story short, put together what they think is going to be the flop of the century Musical named "Springtime for Hitler". They collaborated on the idea for this play guaranteed to fail which would make them rich in the long run as they would sell more than 1.000 % in investments and end up with the backer’s money. Unfortunately, things do not turn out as planned as the Show is a huge success and sexy Ulla(Angie Schwoer) is one of the main stars in the show singing and dancing extraordinarily.

Brooks makes this musical play very entertaining with a great story behind it. Nabbing Alexander and Short to act/sing at the Pantages has made this popular on going show sell out many times and have friends telling friends to go see it. Great Media attention and strong reviews have built up the awareness. Overall, we were thoroughly pleased with the Production. Both Alexander and Short were wonderful in their "Over the Top" characters that Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick portrayed so well in the New York Broadway Show. Hopefully in the future, there will be more Satirical and Madcap Shows that the public can attend and enjoy to temporarily forget about any problems going on in their real world. The Scenery looked very authentic and well done especially the office, the apartment, and the Stage Show scenes. The great atmosphere brought everything to Life during the splendid three-hour show with one intermission.
