R-23 Downtown LA Gourmet Sushi Restaurant (9/04)
Looking for an exquisite place to dine downtown, R-23 offers a fresh variety of Sushi and other Seafood Specialties. Start with the incredible Fresh Crab Salad with a light dressing with hints of ginger and cucumbers. From there, choose any of your favorite Sushi/Sashimi Rolls as all are of high grade quality. The Japanese Hamachi Yellowtail Sashimi melts in your mouth. "A MUST!" The Japanese Marinated Eggplant was incredibly moist. Also on the menu are different choices of Tempura including Halibut with Pine Tree Mushrooms(that is seasonal and another must if they have it); Lobster Tempura; and Vegetable Tempura- all delicious and you cannot go wrong.
I have nothing but great things to say about R-23( standing for Railroad between 2nd and 3rd Street). The service is top notch. The atmosphere is beautiful from surrounded candlelight, nice light music, Big Decorated Paintings and the cool Sushi Bar at this Intimate Fine Dining establishment- great place to dine before a concert or show downtown. Located at 923 E. 2nd Street between Alameda St. and Santa Fe Ave. in an alley of this warehouse district that you must pay attention to find.
