Goo Goo Dolls put on a great show at the Greek Theater in LA on 6/17,07 and 6/19 show is now 9/6/07

The Goo Goo Dolls put on a fabulous show on June 17th, 2007 in front of an energized audience at The Greek Theatre in LA. Lead singer John Rzeznik took control of the crowd and lead his popular band with hit songs such as “Slide”, “Name”, “Iris”, “Let Love In” and “Better Days.

The Greek Theatre located in Los Feliz near Griffith Park is one of the more beautiful venues to see a show. It is an intimate outdoor setting with surrounding mountains and trees. The stage was great with multi-colored lighting and a state of the art lighting system. There June 19th date at the Greek was post-poned until September 6th as part of a benefit concert to support the recovery efforts in fire-ravaged Griffith Park. More info below.

THE GOO GOO DOLLS FIRST TO HEADLINE SERIES OF BENEFIT CONCERTS AT

THE GREEK THEATRE

FOR THE GRIFFITH PARK RECOVERY FUND

The Goo Goo Dolls have agreed to re-schedule their Tuesday June 19 show to

Thursday September 6 in order to kick-off a series of benefit concerts

LOS ANGELES, CA (June 15, 2007) – Nederlander Concerts will produce a series of concerts benefiting the Griffith Park Recovery Fund (GPRF) at The Greek Theatre, kicking off Thursday, September 6 with The Goo Goo Dolls.  One of the great rock and roll bands of our generation, The Goo Goo Dolls will headline this special benefit concert to support the recovery efforts in Griffith Park after the devastating fires which scorched more than 800 acres.

Nederlander Concerts invited The Goo Goo Dolls to headline this concert and close their summer tour in Los Angeles, which resulted in moving their June 19 show.  All tickets from the June 19 show will be honored on this new date and a portion of the revenue will be donated to the GPRF.

“The restoration of Griffith Park is extremely important to us as well as the City of Los Angeles and we are fortunate to have the first-ever GPRF concert headlined by superstar rock band The Goo Goo Dolls,” said Alex Hodges, Chief Operating Officer of Nederlander Concerts.  “This will be the first of a series of concerts allowing the community to give back to the city and restore the beauty of Griffith Park.”

Since forming in 1986, The Goo Goo Dolls have evolved from a punk-influenced trio into the platinum-selling, chart-topping act behind such radio staples as “Name,” “Iris,” “Slide,” and “Here is Gone.” “Before It’s Too Late,” is the latest single from The Goo Goo Dolls featured in this summer’s blockbuster motion picture, Transformers.  The band recently released their gold-certified album, Let Love In, the band’s eighth studio album, produced by Glen Ballard.  The album has spawned four hit singles to date, including the current single and title track, “Let Love In.”  As reported in December, The Goo Goo Dolls now hold the record for “Most Top 10 Hits at Hot AC Radio in History,” with 12 consecutive hits in that format.

“We are honored to headline such an important concert and kick off this concert series at The Greek Theatre,” said John Rzeznik, The Goo Goo Dolls front man.

With over 4,210 acres of both natural chaparral-covered terrain and landscaped parkland and picnic areas, Griffith Park is the largest municipal park with urban wilderness area in the United States. Situated in the eastern Santa Monica Mountain range, the Park’s elevations range from 384 to 1,625 feet above see level. With an arid climate, the Park’s plant communities vary from coastal sage scrub, oak and walnut woodlands to riparian vegetation with trees in the Park’s deep canyons. The GPRF was created by the Greek Theatre Advisory Committee through the Department of Recreation and Parks for the City of Los Angeles.  This fund was developed to replenish the vegetation that was lost in the fires this past May.  For more information please go to www.laparks.com.
