Dining in other areas Outside of Los Angeles

“Tommy Toys” Asian Style Fine Dining in the heart of San Francisco is a MUST! (11/07)

We revisited Tommy Toys French/Asian cuisine on our recent visit to San Francisco. Since opening in 1986 this restaurant has been a mainstay and we can back that up.  There is a price fixed dinner for $57.50/person (2 person minimum) that offers Hazelnut Chicken, Tomato Lobster Bisque, Baked Sea Bass, Peking Duck, Rosemary Lamb with Fried Rice and Lychee Ice Cream with Strawberry Coulis. You also have the choice of ordering a-la-cart with a selection of Chinese appetizers, soups, Vegetable dishes, Rice and Noodles and a variety of entrees (including Chicken, Duck, Lamb, Beef, and all types of Seafood).

We highly recommend Tommy Toys special signature dinner that includes six courses. You start with the Mince Squab in a Lettuce cup (a nice light starter) then the unique Seafood Bisque with a puff Pastry served in a coconut (creamy and delicious). The third course is Fresh Maine Lobster sautéed with mushrooms in a Peppercorn Sauce over Angel Hair Noodles (mouthwatering and out of this world!) Next up was the Chinese favorite, Peking Duck in a Lotus Bun (succulent and tasty). The last main course was the Wok Charred Medallions of Beef with Garlic Wine and Rosemary accompanied by the four-flavored white rice (tender and satisfying). The meal was finished off by a Peach Mouse in a Strawberry Compote (fresh, aromatic yet not too sweet).  This signature dinner is $68/person and well worth it. A full bar and extensive wine list is available to pair with your food.

The service at Tommy Toys is impeccable with several servers attending to your every need all while giving you enough space to enjoy your meal.  The staff and atmosphere is very authentic and they take pride in keeping with the Chinese traditions in their décor and attitude.  By choice this restaurant is not modernized, but definitely is fine dinning at it’s best.  Ancient Chinese Antiques add museum quality to the restaurant’s interior design.  This is a great spot to entertain, have a business dinner or to have a romantic dinner. Tommy Toys has won numerous awards over the years including this year’s 11th Annual Fine Dinning Hall of Fame Award and we can see why.  We highly recommend Tommy Toys for your next dining experience in San Francisco. It is located at 655 Montgomery Street in the Montgomery Washington Tower. For reservations call (415) 397-4888 or visit www.tommytoys.com
