TASTE AT THE BEACH—THE SOUTH BAY’S TOP SUMMER EVENT

Hermosa Beach, Ca….The Kiwanis Club of Hermosa Beach is hosting their Third Annual “Taste at the Beach” Food and Wine Extravaganza on Sunday, August 17 from 4PM to 8PM at the Hermosa Beach Community Center, (corner of Pacific Coast Highway and Pier Avenue), to benefit Project Touch, a program for at risk teens. As usual, the event will feature the finest wine and gourmet dishes from the areas top restaurants, caterers and wine vendors, a live jazz band and silent auction.

“Guests can walk from table to table sampling some of the best dishes from the finest restaurants, caterers and vintners, while sipping their favorite wine and listening to great jazz.  “What could be better than great food and wine in a beautiful relaxed summer setting?” said event coordinator Paul Amarillas.  “Last year we sold out so better get your tickets early,” he added.

Restaurants participating in the event include: Brix@1601, Cantina Real, Delzano’s, Lou-E-Luey’s, Buona Vita,  The Ardmore, Club 705, Ocean Diner, Java Man, Silvio’s Brazilian BBQ & Grill, Grow-The Produce Shop, Manhattan Bread and Bagel, Whole Foods, Sangria, Mediterraneo, Pinkies BBQ, Paciugo Italian Gelato, Ken & Kent’s NY Deli,  Barefoot Wine, Classic Wines, 4 Wines Plus More and AJB Winery.

Jan Brittain, who heads the silent auction committee, is very excited about this year’s selection.  “We have items at great bargains for everyone; individuals, groups and families. I just might bid myself on the one week vacation in Puerto Vallarta or  two nights in Idyllwild  or maybe even both,” she exclaimed.

Mary and Dave McMillan, who have attended the first two Taste At The Beach events, can’t wait. “For foodies like us this is the best summer event in the South Bay ! There is nothing better than being able to sample so many tasty dishes from our local restaurants in one setting.”

This year, proceeds from Taste at the Beach will go to support Project Touch which for 35 years has been operating out of an office and classroom in the Hermosa Beach Community Center and has provided consistent counseling, guidance and structure for teenagers to help them make better choices and get through difficult challenges.  “It takes a village to raise kids and the community should feel proud that this has been in their backyard for such a long time, said Project Touch Executive Director Hillary Hensen.  “Grants as everyone knows have been diminishing, we need funds to continue to sustain us another 35 years,” she added.
