9021PHO Restaurants in Westlake Village, Beverly Hills & soon Culver City by Chef Kimmy Tang (6/11)

The incomparable chef Kimmy Tang’s new restaurant 9021PHO opened up a new location in Westlake Village at the start of 2011 after the successful Beverly Hills location.  A third location will be opening in Culver City later this year I was told.  Tang has been working in California restaurants for 23 years, opening her own pan-Asian bistro, Michelia, in 2001. Michelia, well-known for its novel interpretation of Asian flavors and charismatic atmosphere, quickly became a favorite among food critics and celebs including Jackie Chan, Collin Farrell, Larry King, Keith Richards, Sidney Poitier, and James Woods.  

Her Vietnamese recipes, flavors and food utilize a large diverse range of herbs, including lemongrass, mint, Vietnamese mint, cilantro and Thai basil leaves. Traditional Vietnamese cooking is greatly admired for freshness of the ingredients and for the healthy eating style something that everyone can appreciate. Among all the Vietnamese dishes that came to the attention of the people in the western hemisphere, nothing else has received such tremendous acceptance as Pho.  You will not be disappointed, trust me!

Some of the delicious dishes we had were the shrimp dumplings and veggie spring rolls for appetizers.  Do not miss the PHO, which are homemade Vietnamese soups with your choice of chicken, beef, or seafood accompanied by a variety of broths, veggies and noodles.  Many people come in just for the PHO, which can be a meal in itself.

For entrée selections, the garlic eggplant, cilantro prawns, and stir-fried chicken made a few different ways with your preference of sauce were our top choices.  Try one of the fantastic wok noodle dishes or fried rice to complete your meal.  Basically, you cannot go wrong with anything you order here. 

For dessert, end your meal with one of their light but tasty sorbets mango, coconut or pineapple.  They are served in the same fruit you order and the fruit is frozen.
