The Artisan House in Downtown LA (1/12)

The Artisan House

A great new hot-spot in downtown Los Angeles, which is a booming and growing area. If you are looking for an upscale restaurant and/or a late night meal, this is the perfect place.  With handmade and natural ingredients, The Artisan House offers a fresh and tasteful cuisine. Artisan House is not only a restaurant and bar but also holds a marketplace of fine cheeses, fruit, wines and other unique items plus a takeout deli section.  This is a great place to pick up a bite or dine in a modern and comfortable atmosphere with beautiful décor.  One of the highlights is the cart brought over with several choices of champagnes with mixers such as the raspberry liquor for a kir royale chambord.

We started with the onion soup, which is a more lightweight consistency known more in Southern France; the grilled romaine salad was a delight: light and unique and the fritto misto was very tasty as one of the starters.  Don’t miss one of their flatbreads and if coming during the day or visiting the deli, the pastrami sandwich is a must!

For entrees, we had the whole-wheat tagliatelle alla Bolognese, which was completely fresh and hand made; the winter gnocchi was delicious and the fresh salt water trout with roasted broccolini.
