Cristophe Salon in Beverly Hills offers a variety of great services and products (3/12)

I, Todd Elliot, had the pleasure of visiting Cristophe salon last week for a fantastic facial by Svetlana and a wonderful pedicure by Diana Tran.  Both of them were extremely professional and have many years of experience as I highly recommend them.  Diana has her own nail product line that you can see at  www.diaje.com.    The salon gets very crowded so make your appointment in advance.  The salon also features Denise Richards Volume Extend and her line of of products.

The first Cristophe salon opened to immediate success in Beverly Hills in 1985. Twenty-six years later, Cristophe Beverly Hills remains popular and has become a cornerstone to one of the most recognizable and prestigious shopping districts in the world. The Cristophe salons are home to over 75 stylists, colorists, and make-up artists, all of which are dedicated to providing their clients with the best possible experience.
Over the course of two decades, the Cristophe brand has grown opening more locations and launching a professional hair care line. Salons opened across the nation in two major cities, Washington DC and Las Vegas. With licensing opportunities, the Cristophe brand opened two more salons, one in Newport Beach and the other in the beautiful Saint Barth’s, French West Indies. Currently, Cristophe Professional hair care is available at one of the biggest drug store chains, CVS.

When I think of describing a Beverly Hills Salon many different adjectives come to mind: snooty, pretensions, uppity, expensive, trendy, out-of-touch. My experience at Cristophe Salon in Beverly Hills was much different than I expected. I had my hair cut and colored by a French woman named, Valerie. She had long red hair, wore barely any make-up and was so warm and down to earth I forgot I was in LA. Although more expensive than your run of the mill hair cut, it was worth it. Valerie matched my hair color perfectly, paid special to what I wanted and gave me her suggestions without any pressure. She blew my curly, thick hair straight and proceeded to cut what seemed like each strand at a time. She spent so much time and used such precision I felt so well taken care of.    Written by Kelly Doherty

International Celebrity Hair Stylist Cristophe Pairs with Denise Richards

I have one luxury and that is that I take my hair stylist.  I take this very seriously.  I once French-braided my hair for two years waiting for a hair cut by Alan Clauson (at Allen Edwards) when he was ill.

At just about that time, in the mid-80’s, Cristophe opened his Beverly Hills Salon with a big splash.  I knew his artistry after he did a head-turning, literally electrifying style for my trend-setting friend, Patricia Drier, a beautiful, exuberant six-foot 20’s-something.

Fast forward to five years ago when I purchased a Cristophe haircut as an auction item at a charity event. This time the very distinct thought occurred, ” what if I get hooked on this?”

And “hooked” I did become.  Cristophe He’s tall, rangy and has that dry Belgian sense of humor.  He self-effacingly describes himself as “a hairdresser, a barber.”  That’s about like saying Vidal Sassoon “cut hair.” And he has the same sort of likeable personality as Sassoon that

He sums up exactly the way I feel about him.  “For the last 35 years I’ve been spending my life trying to make people look better, feel better.  Hair is the easiest, most powerful way to enhance your appearance… it’s not about a haircut. It’s about how you feel.”

First the challenging haircut I asked for, some Meg Ryan number for thick hair was not a problem for this sheer genius – and this was after I had sought it out at several other places.  It got better afterward and weeks, even months after I have a haircut, people comment, “your hair looks great; did you just have it cut?”

The second cut, a sort of British actress  Carey Mulligan gamine look worked even better.  When Mulligan became known for it, I (wrongly) presumed Cristophe had done it.

The third cut I love even more.  It’s a cross between Peggy Moffit and a Chinese peasant boy.  When I brought in a photo from a VOGUE series show him, he was silent for a few seconds, scissors in hand.  He grinned, “you know that’s a wig?” he said.  I burst out laughing; I had.

I still love the cut after three years.  Every now and then, Christophe will ask, “do we want to grow it out?”  No.   Still, he is always ready with a smile and suggestions and knows the latest styles.

As much as I love to tout Cristophe, one of his main goals is to let everyone know about the rest of the stylists and the services at the salon.

Today the Cristophe salons are home to over 75 stylists, colorists, and make-up artists, all of which are dedicated to providing their clients with the best possible experience.

Salons with the Cristophe name on It now operate in Washington DC, Las Vegas. Newport Beach and Saint Barth’s, French West Indies. Currently, Cristophe Professional hair care is available at one of the biggest drug store chains, CVS and online.

Someone who admired my haircut many times was the cutting-edge, fun fashionista, Wendy Krueger, Director of Sales at Luxe Hotel Rodeo Drive around the block on Rodeo Drive.  It turns out that she also got to Cristophe Salon.  Mateo is her stylist.

In  her words, “the salon hums on Saturday like a well-oiled engine.  Every chair is filled and often there’s a waiting line for a shampoo bowl.  Mateo puts me in mind of a boxer waiting to enter the ring.  Well -trained and full of creative energy just waiting to get to it.   There’s this buzz in the room.  It’s similar to a hive, everyone has a job and they are going about the day doing it.  Delicious coffees are being delivered to patrons and infused waters (citrus and cucumbers) are available at the big white lacquer table in the main room.  It reminds me o those common tables in a restaurant where you can sit with strangers and feel you are both a part of the community.”

The news is that International Celebrity Hair Stylist Christope has recently paired up with actress Denise Richards and debuted their Volume Extend Hair Care Collection on ShopNBC and spent months developing it.

The products sold out in about 15  minutes when Denise Richards and Christophe  appeared live to present their hair care collection featuring the Denise Richards Volume Extend by Cristophe Volumizing Shampoo & Conditioner, Volumizing Crème, Finishing Spray and Volumizing Spray.

“Denise’s insight into the needs and wants of real women sparked the genesis of our collection,” reported Cristophe. “From our conversations, we identified a clear need for a technologically advanced hair care line focused on volume that also offers quick, effortless and beautiful results.”

The Denise Richards Volume Extend by Cristophe collection was a natural evolution that combined Cristophe’s knowledge and expertise with Denise’s ideas and understanding of the hair health and maintenance challenges that many women face, specifically volume.

“We are thrilled to be working with Denise and Cristophe in a seamless way to launch their prestigious hair care brand on our national multichannel platform,” said Donna Tarantino, ShopNBC’s Director of Beauty. “Christophe is an icon in the industry. Through his innovative collaboration with trendsetter and fashion icon Denise Richards, they are bringing to market a targeted, results-oriented hair care solution that is sure to delight our viewers.”
