Bamboo Caribbean Restaurant in West LA is casual yet delicious- June 2014
Bamboo in West LA is one of the best kept restaurants around the westside. This Caribbean style establishment has a beautiful outdoor patio with bamboo chairs and décor. There is also inside dining but we suggest the outside on a nice night. Now to the best thing about this place. The food. Wow, it was incredible. The pizza was very good and hot out of the oven while the veggie quesadilla was also tasty.
We started with the flown in fresh Maryland soft-shell crab (seasonal) and the shrimp Bahia in a coconut milk , tomato cilantro sauce. For entrees, we had the chicken Yucatan which is a black Indian pepper sauce and the seafood paella, two of the best dishes around that you will find. Every entree comes with rice, black beans and fried plantains.
You will feel like you are on vacation in a Caribbean Island while you enjoy your tasty pina coloda or mojito. Sweet, crisp, refreshing, and made with fresh sugar cane, experience what many say is the “best mojito in Los Angeles.” Hemingway would be proud! The variety of the menu is great from other meat dishes with a selection of homemade sauces from mango-curry to green tomatillo to orange and garlic sauces.
Bamboo’s understated island ambiance and tongue-tingling menu makes it a neighborhood favorite for Latin-Fusion cuisine. The interior boasts a cozy wine bar and there is a greenery-trimmed patio available (with heat lamps). The appetizer menu offers soups, salads, and half a dozen chewy-crust mini pizzas.
They are open at 11am till 11pm and 12am on the weekends. The chef and part owner Jose has worked at the Ivy among other top notch restaurants so you know you are in good hands. The pricing is very affordable for how good the food is and you will be very satisfied. One of our favorite yet casual restaurants we have dined at in a while.
