Pampas quick service Brazilian Steakhouse in Culver City was excellent- May 2015

Pampas has something for everyone. Being a Brazillian steakhouse, it is obviously a meat lover’s paradise. They have a great selection of all kinds of meats from top sirloin to garlic chicken. But they also have a great selection of food for non-meat eaters. Their salads and pastas are excellent.

This is a very unique Brazillian steakhouse in that it is a buffet. You can get as much food as you want and you are charged by the pound. Like most buffets the first thing you come to is the salad bar, which has a nice selection of salads, fruits, and vegetables. At the salad bar, we enjoyed the salad of greens, cold eggplant dish the balsamic tomatoes & onions, the beet salad, broccoli, and some delicious pineapple and strawberries.

The next stop was the hot dishes where we enjoyed some garlic rice, veggie rice, pasta, salmon, fried plantains, and delicious garlic bread & of course the pao de queijo (Brazilian cheese bread which was very addicting). We were careful not to overdue it because we wanted to save some room for the final stop at the buffet, which is the carving station for all of their incredible meats, which the chefs carve for you right off of the rotisserie skewers. We tasted several meats and they were all delicious. We had the tri-tip, garlic chicken, pork loin, lamb, chicken breast wrapped with bacon, top sirloin, and sirloin cap. They were all great but the top sirloins and tri-tips were our favorites. The flavor of every meat was amazing.

We have been to other Brazilian steakhouses which were good but expensive. At Fogo de Chao for example, you can expect to spend at least $60 a person (for all you can eat) and there is often times a long wait for a table. There have been a few times that we were in the mood for that kind of food, but didn’t want to spend $60 a person.  Pampas is a great alternative. You can expect to spend $15-$20 a person and you can be out of there in 30 minutes if you want to have a quick meal. You only pay for what you get so you don’t just pile food up on your plate.

We think this concept of a really casual, buffet-style Brazilian steakhouse is great and we will definitely be going back to Pampas Grill.

They have 2 locations and we visited the one in Culver City at 3857 Overland Ave.   310-836-0080  www.pampas-grill.com
