Ment’or Young Chef Competition post coverage from 2nd Annual Event- September 1st, 2015

The main objective of the 2nd Annual Ment’or Young Chef Competition was to “inspire culinary excellence”, and this excellence was very much on display last Thursday, August 27 at Bouchon in Beverly Hills.
Sixteen individuals from across the country competed this year. At the invite-only affair, guests arrived to smiling faces from friendly hostesses, then proceeded to enjoy succulent appetizers and plentiful champagne, all tray-passed by cheerful servers during the reception. In addition, the event featured an open bar serving premium favorites including Johnny Walker. The overall atmosphere was elegant with a classic French, cozy setting, within which various food stations sampled superbly executed salads, cheese boards, seafood, and assorted desserts.
An hour or so into the event, showtime began and an esteemed panel of seven judges began the difficult task of evaluating these talented young chefs. Each competing chef prepared a dish based on the selected protein for the judges to evaluate. Competing chefs were scored on excellence in overall taste, presentation, and kitchen organization.
All in all, it was an excellent event, spotlighting the future chefs of tomorrow.   Story and Photos By Rich Schmitt.
