Oliver’s Steakhouse at the Grafton Hotel on Sunset is worth the dining experience- October 2015

Executive Chef Greg Elkin at Oliver’s Prime Restaurant in The Grafton Hotel on the Sunset Strip really knows how to bring it. Chef Elkin brings more than two decades of bi-coastal fine-dining experience to Oliver’s Prime, and it shows in each vibrant dish he creates. Elkin’s signature dishes at Oliver’s Prime include the 35-Day Dry-aged New York Strip Steak and American Wagyu Beef Tartare, and his innate passion for preparing seafood is artfully displayed on the menu with Togarashi Spiced Ahi Tuna, Lobster Caprese and Tuna Rolls. In addition to great food you will enjoy the ambiance at Oliver’s Prime. We liked that it was dark and romantic. The lighting and decor tempers the elegance with a cozy feel. The booth we had was super comfy and very large. They call it the mafia booth but well worth it especially for a nice group of 4-6.

 

We started with the Crispy Brussel Sprouts (a popular favorite) and Carrot Ginger soup accompanied by one of their signature cocktails….The Headliner, a highly refreshing mix of Citrus Vodka, English Cucumber, Mint, Lemon Juice and Club Soda. (what’s not-to-like in there?).

The brussel sprouts were one of our favorite starters. Crispy and flavorful. The carrot ginger soup was seasoned to perfection….not too salty, and creamy without being rich. For dinner, we had the branzino fish and it was amazing. The shaved fennel and heirloom tomatoes were perfect with it. The winner was the bison steak cooked to perfection. You don’t see this that much on menus and this lean filet was so tender and juicy. Incredible and a side of potatoes and asparagus enhanced the dish even more.

We also tried Pastry Chef Julissa’s Signature Salt Caramel Bread Pudding to finish off a great dining experience.
