Visit to Solvang- Lodging at the Vinland Inn, Breakfast at the Solvang Restaurant, & Wheels of Fun- 2/23

What a beautiful danish town Solving, Ca. is. If you’ve never been, it is a must visit and located in the heart of wine country part of the Santa Ynez Valley. We stayed at the Vinland Inn right on Mission Street in the heart of downtown Solvang and it was fabulous. The staff were very welcoming and hospitable. They have a V lounge in the lobby to relax and eat. Coffee is self serve anytime you want it. The room was very comfortable and spacious. There’s a beautiful outdoor heated swimming pool and Jacuzzi and we highly recommend a stay here.

Imagine a place where the streets are lined with Danish windmills and the hills are carved with winding horse trails. There are delightful pastry displays. And decadent local chardonnays. And a decidedly enchanting ostrich refuge where you can feed the birds by hand. Now imagine that place isn’t imaginary at all.

A hop, skip and short drive from Santa Barbara, the Santa Ynez Valley has been a purveyor of dreams for decades. And at Vinland, they will make those dreams even dreamier with an impeccable location, an incredible on-site lounge  and an inclusive, pet-friendly policy. Vinland introduces a mesmerizing hotel experience to Solvang with its captivating room accommodations and iconic presence on Mission Drive. Between exploring vineyards in the surrounding countryside and enjoying an order of Viking meatballs poolside, don’t be surprised if you happen to forget that you’re still stateside.

They are affiliated with a few other local properties I will have to try on future visits. You can see more on their website below. https://www.vinlandhotelandlounge.com/

A great activity, not far away, and walking distance from the Vinland Inn is called Wheels Fun Rentals.

They have a variety of different bicycles including the Surrey tandem, hybrid, & E bikes. The best suggestion if you’re going to go through the wine country and towards Los Olivos in Santa Ynez is to get an E Bike. There’s a bike lane for most the way through those towns. You can also check out a bunch of wineries as there’s a nice loop. Wheels of Fun is the way to go to get around or just check out the town of Solvang.  https://wheelfunrentals.com/ca/solvang/solvang/rentals

For breakfast, don’t miss the Solvang Restaurant, located on Copenhagen Street in the heart of the Danish area.

All the buildings are built like you’re in Denmark and this restaurant has been around for a long time. The owner Jeff has owned it for 40 years and the food is great. Not to miss are their pancake balls served with strawberry jam and powdered sugar. It is a combination of a pancake and a doughnut and they’re called Aebleskiver.

Another popular item are the Danish style thin pancakes, but they also have a variety of eggs and omelets with great hash browns, and more. They are also known for their famous danish sausage. The manager Laurie and the staff were friendly and helpful.
