A Delicious Mediterranean Experience at The Great Greek
The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill in Los Angeles delivers a memorable Mediterranean feast, with highlights ranging from the hearty Avgolemono soup and flavorful dips to perfectly grilled salmon, juicy chicken skewers, and irresistible baklava ice cream. Every course was flavorful, thoughtfully prepared, and satisfying.
Saba, the owner, was accommodating and welcoming.
We started with the cucumber mint tea, which was amazing. It had the perfect balance of sweetness and mint, with actual chunks of fresh cucumber adding another layer of freshness. It was light and refreshing.
For an appetizer, we ordered the Four Dip Combo, and every dip was excellent. My personal favorite was the red pepper dip, which had a wonderful flavor that really stood out. Paired with the pita bread, it was a great way to start the meal. I also loved the hummus and could put that on anything.
We also tried the traditional Greek chicken and rice soup, Avgolemono, and it was absolutely delicious. The soup was loaded with tender, shredded chicken and plenty of rice, making it surprisingly hearty and filling. A lovely hint of lemon gave the broth a refreshing zest without overpowering the other flavors. It was comforting, flavorful, and satisfying. The Spanakopita was also a nice starter
For our main courses, we enjoyed salads topped with chicken skewers and salmon. Both proteins were cooked beautifully. The salmon was juicy and tender on the inside, with just the right amount of char on the outside. The chicken skewers were equally impressive—perfectly grilled, juicy, and full of flavor. Both were excellent additions to the fresh salads. They come with rice pilaf or feta fries or best to try each.
And then came dessert!
We decided to try all three desserts: baklava, baklava ice cream, and Mom’s Rice Pudding. What impressed me most was that none of them were overly sweet, something i particularly appreciate in desserts.
The traditional baklava was delicious, and the rice pudding was creamy and satisfying. But the real standout for me was the baklava ice cream. I had never tried it before, and it was exactly what I had imagined: all the wonderful flavors of baklava combined with the cool, creamy texture of ice cream. It was absolutely delicious and easily my favorite dessert of the three.
The restaurant itself was exceptionally clean, and the bathrooms were spacious and spotless. The staff was exceptionally kind, attentive, and accommodating. They came by several times to ask whether we needed anything, how we were enjoying the food, and whether there was anything else they could do for us. Their thoughtful service made the experience even more enjoyable.
Overall, The Great Greek delivered a wonderful dining experience. The food was fresh, flavorful, generously prepared, and beautifully balanced. From the refreshing cucumber mint tea to the perfectly grilled salmon and chicken, hearty soup, delicious dips, and exceptional desserts, there wasn’t a single dish we didn’t enjoy. They also provide catering for parties and events.
We would happily return for some of their specialties and end with the baklava ice cream! More at https://www.thegreatgreekgrill.com/los-angeles-ca
