Water Grill in Santa Monica serves top notch seafood- May 2023
Looking for the best seafood in LA and especially on the west side, the Water Grill, is the place to dine. Located across the street in Santa Monica on Ocean Boulevard, you can see the ocean from our booth. The restaurant has a feature where they have electronic windows that go up during the day to get the fresh air and then come down when it starts getting colder at night. They also have an electronic shade to keep the sun out of your eyes, which is a very cool feature. We started off with a couple of drinks while we ordered our appetizers. We were serves their delicious warm bread to start. We chose three of them.
First, the baked oysters Rockefeller with spinach and Parmesan cheese and they were delicious. We added the Trojan sushi roll, which was big eye tuna with avocado, cucumber & tobika with wasabi vinaigrette in a wonderful ponzu sauce. Lastly, the crab cake with a tasty remoulade sauce. They were all so good it’s hard to choose which was best.
For entrees we had the black cod and a spicy fish broth with green onions and soba noodles. Very tasty. However, the dish of the night was the Chilean Seabass that melted in our mouth and served with cauliflower purée, hazelnuts & brown butter. We had a side of braised kale with Greek yogurt. We split their moist cheesecake for dessert and we are fully satisfied. The atmosphere is relaxed, but very nice. You can dress casually as it’s right near the beach and even watch sports on one of their many TVs around the restaurant and bar. Overall an excellent dining experience.
