Kings battle rival Edmonton in Stanley Cup Playoffs 2023- Series tied 2-2

Stanley Cup Playoffs-

The LA Kings took on the rival Edmonton Oilers in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. After spitting the first two games in Edmonton with an exciting overtime win in game 1 after a last second time game tying goal with their goalie pulled and game-winning goal by Iaffalo, it was time to head back home.  Game 3 was back and forth.  The Kings held the Oilers in check except for 2 power play goals by Connor McDavid- the top scorer in the league. Gabe Vilardi assisted to Trevor Moore for the game winning sudden death goal as the final was 3-2 in overtime giving LA a 2-1 series lead

Game 4. The Kings came out firing on all cylinders scoring three goals in the 1st period Crypto.com arena was full of energy and it looked like it might be a blowout vs Edmonton. In The 2nd period, the Oilers got back into it.  First, a penalty on defenseman Elder led to the first Edmonton power play goal and then Leon Draisaitl made it 3 to 2 before a terrible call the end of the second.

Kevin Fiala made his return after missing nine games. He was a key factor early setting up a couple goals but replays showed it looked like to be a neutral collision at the end of the 2nd period.  However the visitors were rewarded a power-play, and they took advantage tying the game 3-3 heading to the third.

The Oilers had all the energy in a second. The Kings stayed poised and came out strong in the 3rd period taking a 4-3 lead on a great rush with defenseman Roy scoring on assist by Danauit & Arvidson.  With only three minutes to go, Edmonton pulled out their top horses and Evander Kane scored with assists by McDavid and Draisaitl so it was overtime again.  Drew Doughty, who didn’t play too well with a couple early giveaways, gave up too much space to sniper Zach Hyman in overtime who ripped the game winner to tie the series at 2-2. There seemed to be another unpopular call where Doughty got taken out by Draisaitl but no penalty called. More at www.nhl.com/kings
