Hanjip Korean BBQ newly opened in Culver City is a great dining experience- December 2015
Hanjip, serves delicious food for Korean cuisine lovers and novices alike. Come to Hanjip for exciting meals served in a beautiful designer space in Culver City and served by skilled and courteous staff. Culver City is a hotbed of terrific restaurants and the latest is HANJIP featuring Korean BBQ. You are in for a very authentic and very unique dining experience. Most of the food you order is cooked by your server right at your table unless you prefer to do cooking yourself. There is a grill built into center of every table and around the grill are ten delicacies bowls to flavor the main dishes. A few dishes that we in enjoyed from the bonus heading on the menu was prepared in the kitchen, Kimchi Fried Rice and a seafood pancake with Rock Shrimp and Bay Scallops was off the hook wonderful and our personal favorite dish. It was buttery and melted in my mouth while preserving the texture of both the shrimp and scallops. It was buttery and melted in my mouth while preserving the texture of both the shellfish. We also enjoyed the Soy Bean Stew and Kim Chi Stew. The main dishes Grilled at our table started with Carabineros Prawns (cooked whole, heads and all) followed by grilled baby octopus. Both we very tasty. We followed that with the Beef Combo, which comes with your choice of Marinated Short Rib or Ribeye steak, (we went marinated SR and was the table favorite of the night.) the Beef Combo also included Sliced Brisket boneless Short Rib and Stew. As a contrast to the pancake, the Carabineros Prawns were fat and meaty, mildly spicy and flavorful. The Baby Octopus, grilled by our helpful and expert waiter, danced on the grill and had just the perfect amount of chewiness to go along with its smokey flavor. We tried the Kim Chi and Soy Bean Stew. Filling and flavorful choose the Kim Chi for a mild spicy bite and the Soy for the mélange of delicious greens. For meat lovers there is good news. The boneless short rib (Saeng-Gal –Bi) and sliced brisket (Cha-Dohl) were tender, flavorful and served with their own dipping sauces. For each grilled item the grill is expertly switched out for a pristine new grill thus ensuring that the flavors don’t mix except, if you want, on your plate. The only criticism is….no deserts offered. I’m sure that will be remedied in time. By the way there is city parking located around the corner. Everything was really good and prepared for table sharing which makes for a really fun night for family of four or couples dinner. For drinks we enjoyed a premium Soju and Bohae Black Raspberry Rice Wine. Cool any spiciness with the beautiful sweet rice wine or the smoother and also cooling, Soju. The cognoscenti mix the two for a delightful embodiment. We were there for dinner but they are open for lunch as well and offer five lunch specials like Poke Bowl, or Katsu fried Chicken. So get ready for an exotic night and head over to HANJIP soon. |
