Portion Of Proceeds Will Be Donated To The National Junior Tennis League

Indian Wells, Calif., November 15, 2006 – The Pacific Life Open, the fifth most-attended tennis tournament in the world, will donate one dollar for every ticket sold between December 1-22, 2006 to the National Junior Tennis League, it was announced today by tournament director Steve Simon.

Tickets for the tournament, which will be held March 5-18 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, range in price from as low as $17 for evening session grandstand tickets to $71 for loge seats on the final weekend. In addition, Coachella Valley residents have the opportunity to receive a 30 percent discount on most sessions and other daily discounts are available to USTA members, seniors, students and the military.

The National Junior Tennis League (NJTL) was founded in 1968 by Charlie Pasarell, the late Arthur Ashe and Sheridan Snyder, is a non-profit organization that reaches out to children through recreational tennis programs to help promote positive attributes of sportsmanship, self-esteem and fitness. The Coachella Valley chapter offers free weekly clinics, a circuit of monthly tournaments, as well as teaching programs at the Palm Desert YMCA. Weekly clinics are held at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden for boys and girls ages 5 to 18. Balls and racquets are provided and appropriate court shoes are required.

“The National Junior Tennis League offers kids the opportunity to play tennis and foster new friendships through a grass roots program which provides weekly clinic programs and monthly tournaments to kids of all means,” said Simon. “This is a very special program and one that we support in every way we can.
