Old Port Inn Great Seafood Restaurant in Avila Beach, Ca. (5/12)

On our trip up to Paso Robles, we were so lucky to have been recommended to stop by The Old Port Inn restaurant in Avila beach.

A few miles north of Pismo Beach off the 101 freeway, an area which I have driven by a hundred times, you exit to Avila beach,

A very short drive and the surprise begins!

The Road down to the beach is green and luscious, then you come down to the beach to the third long pier (Hartford pier) that actually at one time, had a train going over it!

Almost at the end of it, you will find The Old Port Inn, and the name does it justice in a very charming way today.

It is as authentic as you get! The story says that it was built by its founder Barry A. Cohen for $300!  Barry also owns Cioppino restaurant in San Luis Obispo.  Yes the Cioppino is a must to order at either of his fantastic dining options.

Once you are inside, you will get this great view of the San Luis Obispo Bay coupled with the old rustic interior of the restaurant.

It has a great fish menu, bar with a great wine list, what else do you need?

I had their signature “Cioppino” stock with big prawns, scallops, calamari and fresh fish, topped with, get this, romano cheese!

Getting hungry just thinking about it!

My wife Lisa had the “fresh rock cod”, lightly breaded and grilled with a beurre blanc sauce and the “fish and chips”

For the kids, all tasting delicious.

So if you happen to be driving up north, you must stop by The Old Port Inn, I would even consider going there as my main destination.
