Air Supply at the Grove in Anaheim on August 21st, 2021- Preview, Tickets, Post Coverage

After a 6-8 month COVID-19 hiatus Soft rock group Air Supply who has been going strong performing in over 5300 hundred shows 46 years made a stop at the City National Grove of Anaheim as part of their Lost in Love tour going on through July 22’.

The crowd of nearly 1700 masked fans were very excited to have Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock back on stage performing all of their favorite best hits. The band kicked things off with “Sweet Dreams” from their 1985 Album The One That You Love.  Graham Russell and Russell Hitcock were backed up by a much more modern ensemble, highlighted by several solos by guitarist Aaron McLain.

The room venue was filled with self-proclaimed “Airheads” who were given the opportunity to sing along to favorites such as Lost in Love (1979) and Here I am (1981). As an avid fan who has attending multiple Air Supply shows, I was bummed that they do not do their staple move during this song where they going through the crowd saying hi to the audience and even pausing for a picture or two but it is to be expected during this covid era! The set list consisted of 12 songs, one of which was a brand new song that Graham Russell wrote during while in quarantine in upstate New York called “What am I doing here”. This was his first time performing it onstage. He also shared one of his staple poems from his Turn Left at Greenland collection titled “I am”.

They closed the night out with an encore for the enthusiastic fans consisting of “Without You” (1991) and “All out of love” (1980). Graham Russell and Russell Hitcock have done a brilliant job of appealing to fans of all ages by adding young ensemble members consisting of two guitarists, a pianist, and a drummer adding a little more pop rock to their music. They continue to show genuine love and gratitude at each and every one of their shows.  Written by Summer Runestad

ANAHEIM, CA (June 14, 2021) – Iconic Australian pop/rock duo Air Supply marked their 45th Anniversary in 2020 and will hit the road to celebrate with a performance at the City National Grove of Anaheim on Saturday, August 21, 2021.  Tickets go on sale Friday, June 18 at 10:00 AM via Ticketmaster.com only.

Graham Russell & Russell Hitchcock met on May 12, 1975, at rehearsals for “Jesus Christ Superstar” in Sydney, Australia; they became instant friends with their common love for The Beatles and, of course, singing.

In 1980 “Lost in Love” became the fastest selling single in the world, leaping to the top of all of the charts and was named Song of the Year. Seven top-five singles later, Air Supply at that time had equaled The Beatles’ run of consecutive top five singles. The albums Lost in Love, The One That You Love, Now & Forever, and The Greatest Hits sold in excess of 20 million copies. To date they have performed 5000 concerts together.

The trademark sound of Russell Hitchcock’s soaring tenor voice and Graham Russell’s simple yet majestic songs created a unique sound that would forever be known as Air Supply.
