USA Mens Soccer beat Korea Republic on February 1st, 2014 in Los Angeles

The US Men’s Soccer national team beat world cup qualifying Korea Republic in front of a sell-out 27,000 crowd 2-0 at the Stubhub Center in Carson, Ca.  Steve Wondolowski came up big scoring both goals to impress coach Jurgen Klinsmann for his hope to be on the World Cup team this summer.  Wondo headed in the first goal on a deflected cross by Brad Evans in the 4th minute and then scored on another deflection 15 minutes into the second half off of a Grahem Zuzi cross intended for Landon Donovan.

Klinsmann has said Jozy Altidore is his #1 striker so it will depend on where Donovan and Eddie Johnson fit in to see about Wondo’s chances of making the team. Altidore has slumped this season in England and didn’t make this game but is young and has a lot of experience and talent.  His 8 goals in his last 9 national team games is a major push for him after going scoreless in all of his prior games.

He has been a top scorer in the MLS and won the mvp and scoring titles in the last few years. The US team is trying to put another friendly game together vs. Mexico for a tuneup as they only have one other game scheduled in Ukraine till the summer tournament.  Other big names that didn’t make this game from their team include Clint Dempsey, Michael Bradley and Tim Howard.
