About The American Red Cross Local Disaster Relief Fund for Los Angeles

The mission of American Red Cross is to help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.  To accomplish that mission, the Red Cross provides planning, preparedness, community disaster education, mitigation, and disaster response that will provide the American people with quality disaster services delivered in a uniform, consistent, and responsive manner.  The American Red Cross responds to hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, fires, and other situations that cause human suffering or create human needs that those affected cannot handle alone.  In Los Angeles last year the American Red Cross responded to nearly 500 disasters from single-family fires to major apartment fires and the Glendale train wreck.  The American Red Cross it is an independent, humanitarian, voluntary organization; it is not a government agency.

All Red Cross disaster assistance is a gift made possible by the generous contribution of people’s time, money, and skills.  The event on October 15th supports that reality.
