BizBash’s L.A. Expo Moves to L.A. Mart

Largest Event Professionals Gathering in California Makes Move to Reduce Exhibitor Costs

Keynote on “Latest Trends in a Changing Event Landscape” features Brent Bolthouse

Los Angeles—March 31, 2009—David Adler, C.E.O. and founder of BizBash, the trade media for the event and meeting industry, announced today that his company has struck a two-city deal with Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. to host BizBash’s one-day Los Angeles trade show at the Los Angeles Merchandise Mart on June 11, 2009, and its one-day Chicago show at the Chicago Merchandise Mart on August 20, 2009. The L.A. show was previously held at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

BizBash also hosts annual event industry trade shows in New York at the Javits Center and in Toronto at the Direct Energy Centre.

According to Adler, “With the economy in a downturn, our goal is to do everything possible to lower the costs for exhibitors. While we love the Los Angeles Convention Center, the location of last year’s show, many of our exhibitors are small businesses who will benefit greatly from being at the Merchandise Mart.”

The expo’s keynote session with feature the “Latest Trends in a Changing Event Landscape,” presented by BizBash editor in chief Chad Kaydo, with special guest event producer Brent Bolthouse of Bolthouse Productions. The keynote session will provide Kaydo’s take on the latest trends and ideas, while Bolthouse will share his view of the changing event landscape. The third annual Hall of Fame ceremony will induct Howard Bragman, chairman, C.E.O., and founder of Fifteen Minutes Public Relations; Paul Dreher, assistant director of catering at the Beverly Hilton; and Hillary Harris, director at Warner Bros. Studios Special Events.

Now in its third year, the BizBash Expo is a must-attend show for anyone who plans or executes everything from parties and galas to consumer and B2B trade shows, press conferences, premieres, and even social-network gatherings. The June 11, 2009, expo is expected to draw between 1,500 and 2,000 top event and meeting planners and suppliers from all over the western United States. Planners will experience a day full of conference sessions, entertainment, and exhibits showcasing what’s new and what’s next in event suppliers and venues.

“We are planning an exceptional event,” said Richard Aaron, BizBash president and show director. “In choosing the Mart, we are saving exhibitors an average of $2,000 in additional show expenses such as electricity, carpeting, and drayage. In today’s economic environment, that’s an enormous savings.”

The show is a prime opportunity for exhibitors and planners to come together and celebrate events. The expo will showcase performances from entertainers including the Bobs, the a cappella singing sensation from San Francisco.
