Rosemary Children’s Services hosts the Star Chefs Benefit at Santa Anita Park on June 26, 2010

ROSEMARY CHILDREN’S SERVICES TO HOLD 47TH ANNUAL “AN EVENING WITH STAR CHEFS” BENEFIT AT SANTA ANITA PARK ON JUNE 26TH

 

 

PASADENA, Calif. – On June 26, 2010, Rosemary Children’s Services will hold its 47th Annual “An Evening with Star Chefs.” This event, which will be held at the historic Santa Anita Park, is the oldest, most established culinary event in the greater Los Angeles area.  The fundraiser attracts over 500 prominent, concerned and caring supporters who enjoy an evening of gourmet food created by the area’s finest chefs as well as dancing to live entertainment, wine, specialty coffees, opportunity drawings, and an exciting silent auction.

 

“We are very excited to hold our ‘Star Chefs Event’ at Santa Anita Park again this year,” says Greg Wessels, Executive Director. “This event has a longstanding history in the Pasadena community and among all of our long time supporters. This year we are not only proud to celebrate our 47th Annual Event, but also our 90th Anniversary of our Agency.”

 

Rosemary Children’s Services is a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency dedicated to helping children and adolescent girls heal from abuse and build self-esteem.  At the heart of our efforts is the commitment to enable young people to fulfill their potential to lead productive and rewarding lives.  Since 1920, Rosemary Children’s Services has reached thousands of children and their families through its Residential Program, Foster Family and Adoption Program, Non-Public School, Transitional Housing Program and Mental Health Program.

“This is one of the most fun and exciting and events in Pasadena,” says Jennifer Radics, Development Director, “There will be a fabulous silent auction, exquisite food and wine, and great music and dancing! This is an event not to be missed.”

 

ABC7 Eyewitness News’ nutrition and fitness reporter “Food Coach,” Lori Corbin and the Food Network Channel’s “The Hungry Detective,” Chris Cognac will serve as the Masters of Ceremonies for the evening. Lori Corbin once owned and operated a chain of exercise studios, along with a low-fat catering business. Her "Food Coach" program slimmed down notables like Tim Allen, Patricia Richardson, Billy Zane and a cast of soap stars. Chris Cognac has been on the police force for 14 years, serving in the juvenile and sex crimes division.  He now specializes in community affairs and quality of life. Chris writes a food column for the Torrance Daily Breeze, a Los Angeles area newspaper, called “Culinary Detective” and has served as a judge on the Food Network Channel’s “Iron Chef America.” Chris has helped Anthony Bourdain on the “L.A. No Reservations” show and was recently part of the team that broke the Guinness World Record cooking challenge.
