The Gran Fondo Italia Cycling Series Arrives in Beverly Hills

WHAT:

The City of Beverly Hills is proud to announce the International cycling event, “Gran Fondo Italia” will take place September 28, 2014 at Beverly Canon Gardens.  As the continuation of the first cycling series joining recreational cycling and the Italian lifestyle, the Gran Fondo Italia Beverly Hills ride will showcase the excellence of Italian food, wine, tourism and culture.  Cyclists of all abilities can experience the best of Italian-style cycling with an unforgettable ride starting on Rodeo Drive, moving to the Pacific Coast Highway and touring the beautiful views in the Santa Monica Mountains.  Cyclists will experience 48 and 90 mile courses, taking on the Piuma Road hill-climb and finishing at Beverly Hills City Hall with awards for men and women in multiple age group categories.  The post-ride celebration will take place at the famed Beverly Canon Gardens.  One lucky registered rider will also have the chance to win the best bike in the world, a Colnago C60. 

·         Modeled after the incredibly popular Gran Fondo cycling event format that originated in Italy, the ride will begin with a combined mass start on Rodeo Drive, complete with an official Italian style start celebration, lead-out and police escort. 

·         The spirit and passion of Italy, iconic Italian brands and products, and incredible destinations are all part of the experience with Gran Fondo Italia events.
